Natural Joint Pain Relief Today

Most of those who suffer with arthritis, take prescription and over the counter pain relievers because, they temporarily ease the aches and stiffness. Nobody should have to endure pain. There are several new medications being tested each year for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia which when taken on a regular basis increase joint mobility and reduce inflammation. Once the inflammation decreases, so will the pain. In some cases, water retention may cause pain in joints, so a diuretic should be considered if the rheumatologist or family physician agrees.

Some of the more common treatments for the various forms of arthritis afflicting Americans, are the over the counter products such as Aleve, Naproxen, Glucosamine and Ibuprofen. These help mild to severe arthritics receive moderate joint pain relief. Natural or holistic methods of treating arthritis are acupuncture, deep muscle massages, vitamins and supplements, apple cider vinegar and honey, borage and coconut oil. Prescription drugs which may help repair the damage, are rituximab, abatacept and tocilizumab. All three drugs retard joint loss, and increase mobility. This is especially great news for those with rheumatoid arthritis. Side effects include dizziness, headache and infection. But these are considered minor annoyances because, there is a real possibility that those with this type of joint damage, may return to normal health.

In the meantime, a combination of diet, gentle exercise such as swimming or stretching, Pilates and light yoga will keep the body flexible. Taking  anti inflammatory to prevent pain along with other pain medications or, arthritis  drugs from a physician, will reduce flareups and days spent in bed trying to recuperate, and will provide intense joint pain relief.

Some foods may contribute to pain. While others will not give joint pain relief, they will reduce the pain and inflammation associated with some foods such as saturated fats. Bacon, dairy products and beef or pork may increase inflammation, so limit the consumption of these. Some people swear by a vegetarian diet, others claim it makes no difference in their condition. Omega-6 which is found in soybean oils, sunflower, sesame and even wheat germ trigger the inflammatory response. It is much better to consume Omega-3 fats such as those which are derived from fish. Tuna, salmon, and other fatty fish seem to reduce pain and stiffness when consumed at least three times weekly.
